The running state of a Work instance.

The following transitions between states are possible:

• UNKNOWN -> SCHEDULED (unknown from the manager point of view)
• SCHEDULED -> CANCELED (is never scheduled or run)
• SCHEDULED -> RUNNING
• RUNNING -> COMPLETED
• RUNNING -> FAILED
• RUNNING -> SCHEDULED (is suspended and persisted)
